The/Nudge Institute works to end poverty by helping people build steady livelihoods. It works with women, farmers, tribal communities and young people across rural development, farming, skills training and economic inclusion, in partnership with more than 15 central and state governments. Its work spans 10 states and reaches over 1.5 million people, and it has backed more than 200 social entrepreneurs through its incubator, accelerator and grand challenges. Its InSight Program tackles presbyopia, a near-vision problem that affects 1 in 3 people over 30, often makes it hard to work, and can be fixed with a simple pair of reading glasses.
Role
The/Nudge is helping the Government of Madhya Pradesh give people above 35, mostly in rural areas, access to affordable near vision glasses. As Associate Manager, Operations, you will work in the State Project Management Unit (SPMU) in Bhopal and travel regularly to districts. You will make sure screening and glasses distribution happen on time and to a high standard, working closely with district and block offices and the community workers who reach people in their villages.
Responsibilities
- Implement project activities on time and to a high standard, following the approved Project Implementation Plan and Standard Operating Procedures in each district.
- Coordinate with district and block offices so the programme runs smoothly.
- Support community workers with training, buying supplies, eye screening and handing out near vision glasses.
- Organise capacity building training for the project team and community workers.
- Lead project events at the regional and district level.
- Coordinate field visits by government officials and other visitors.
- Plan project activities and track that they happen on time.
- Keep project records and send reports to the relevant offices.
- Oversee the timely collection, entry, processing and reporting of data.
- Support monitoring and evaluation of the project.
- Build strong working relationships with people and groups at the grassroots.
Requirements
- Experience in rural development, rural management, or healthcare is preferred
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in the development sector, rural development projects, healthcare projects, or livelihood projects
- District-level experience in the National Health Mission or another healthcare institution, including project operations and capacity building, is preferred
- Own mode of transport with a valid driving license, as this is a field role
- Fluent in English and Hindi
- This is a fixed-term contract for 1 year.
