Girls Not Brides is a global partnership working to end child marriage and to make sure every girl can shape her own future. Since 2011 it has brought together more than 1,400 organisations in nearly 100 countries, all working towards one goal: to stop child, early and forced marriages and unions everywhere. The partnership wants a world where girls in all their diversity decide if, when and whom to marry, and where their rights and futures are fully realised. In 2025, 1 in 5 girls were married under 18, and by 2030 Girls Not Brides will contribute to reducing that to 1 in 7 by mobilising international actors to unlock commitments and resources, and by driving collective action in ten focus countries. This role sits within Girls Not Brides' Development Team, which raises and stewards the funding that makes this work possible.

Role

The Development Officer keeps the fundraising engine running. You will coordinate the processes and systems that hold fundraising together, research and identify new funding opportunities, contribute to funding proposals and donor reports, and support the management of donor relationships. It is a varied and collaborative role that gives an early-career fundraiser experience across the full fundraising cycle, and it reports to the Development Manager.

Responsibilities

• Track fundraising deadlines and reporting requirements so nothing is missed.
• Maintain accurate donor and prospect records across fundraising systems such as Excel and Monday.com.
• Improve the team's systems, tools and processes, and suggest new ones where they are needed.
• Support donor-facing and fundraising events, including preparing briefing materials and coordinating logistics.
• Coordinate Development Team inputs for internal communications, including the Whole Team Newsletter, and organise induction sessions for new starters.
• Research, identify and monitor prospective funders whose priorities match the organisation's strategy.
• Rank and qualify prospects, and recommend which ones to pursue first.
• Maintain the prospect pipeline so engagement activities and next steps are always current.
• Conduct due diligence on prospective donors to check that their values align.
• Carry out desk research on child marriage and gender equality funding trends to inform positioning.
• Steward a portfolio of philanthropic donors, acting as a consistent point of contact.
• Contribute to funding proposals, concept notes and grant renewals, coordinating technical, financial and MEL inputs from across the organisation.
• Support donor compliance for restricted and unrestricted funding, including timely narrative and financial reporting and obligations such as branding, PSEAH and safeguarding reporting.
• Coordinate non-grant income opportunities, including individual and partnership donations, and represent Girls Not Brides in donor and partner meetings.

Requirements

• Experience in a development, fundraising or partnerships role in the not-for-profit sector.
• Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage several workstreams, priorities and deadlines at once.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Experience using CRM systems, databases or fundraising tracking tools.
• Experience contributing to funding proposals, donor reports or other fundraising communications.
• Excellent written communication, with the ability to take complex information and present it clearly and persuasively for different audiences.
• Excellent interpersonal and relationship-management skills, working with diverse stakeholders across a global team.
• Strong research and analytical skills, including gathering and interpreting information from a range of sources.
• Proactive and solutions-focused, with sound judgement and discretion.
• Comfortable working flexibly across time zones and shifting priorities.
• Strong commitment to the mission and values of Girls Not Brides.
• The right to work in India at the time of applying and for the full two-year contract.
• Willingness to travel internationally on occasion to support events, and to work outside normal hours now and then so teams in different time zones can meet.
• Helpful but not essential: experience working on child marriage, girls' rights or gender equality; an understanding of charity fundraising and trends in the wider development and philanthropic landscape; experience in an international or global organisation; and experience with design tools such as Canva.
