Pratham is an innovative learning organisation working to improve the quality of education in India. Established in 1995 to educate children in Mumbai, Pratham has grown to become one of the largest non-governmental organizations in the country, reaching millions of children and youth every year through high quality, low cost, and replicable education programs. Its Teaching at the Right Level, TaRL, approach has shown proven impact on learning outcomes and is now being adapted in contexts outside India as well.

Role

This role builds and leads the fundraising function for Learn Out of the Box, Pratham's program focused on strengthening teaching and learning across India through teacher capacity building and technology integration in classrooms. As the first member of this new fundraising unit, the incumbent will design the strategy, build donor pipelines across government, private, and CSR channels, and eventually recruit and lead a team as the unit grows.

Responsibilities

• Design and lead the structure, systems, and processes for the fundraising unit
• Develop an annual fundraising plan with targets across multiple funding streams
• Identify funding opportunities and build a pipeline of prospects, refining strategy based on feedback
• Map government grant schemes for education and technology, and manage related applications and compliance
• Identify and build relationships with individual donors and philanthropic foundations
• Identify corporates with aligned CSR mandates and develop partnership pitches and agreements
• Write and manage high quality proposals, concept notes, and grant applications, including post-award reporting
• Recruit, onboard, and mentor fundraising staff as the unit scales
• Work closely with the program leadership team to gather data and develop reports

Requirements

• Degree in management, communications, or a related field
• 8-10 years of experience in fundraising, resource mobilization, or development work
• Track record of independently closing funding commitments from diverse sources
• Experience with at least two of government grants, private or institutional donors, and corporate CSR, experience across all three preferred
• Strong proposal writing and grant management skills, including post-award compliance
• Strong interpersonal and networking skills with government officials, foundation representatives, and corporate decision makers
• Ability to work independently and manage a pipeline while delivering results
• Experience leading a small team, and comfort moving from individual contributor to manager
