Manager – Knowledge, Learning & Research in New Delhi | Development Alternatives
Development Alternatives (DA)
Development Alternatives (DA) is a social enterprise that has worked on sustainable development in India since 1982. Based in New Delhi, it helps create jobs and livelihoods at scale while caring for the environment, through clean technology, support for small businesses and strong local institutions. Its work tackles three linked problems, jobs, natural resources and climate change, through nine programmes including women's economic empowerment, clean technology enterprises and natural ecosystem restoration. Over four decades, its team of more than 120 people has improved the lives of over 20 million people. This role sits within DA's Sustainable Entrepreneurship Group (SEG), which runs the Inclusive Entrepreneurship, Women's Economic Empowerment and Clean Technology programmes.

You will improve how teams use data, build strong evidence through research and evaluation, and turn what is seen in the field into ideas that shape programmes and policy. You will also manage external advisors and work with them on articles and op-eds that bring DA's learning to a wider audience.
Responsibilities
- Synthesize qualitative and mixed-methods data across Inclusive Entrepreneurship, Women's Economic Empowerment, and Clean Tech programs into quarterly insights and KPI narrative reports.
- Refine the overall MEL framework, establishing practical program indicators and deploying advanced learning tools like Developmental Evaluation and Most Significant Change.
- Lead internal and third-party evaluation studies, ensuring rigorous research design and primary data collection.
- Support program teams in data-driven decision-making while managing external advisors to produce high-visibility knowledge products, research papers, and op-eds.
Requirements
- Postgraduate degree in Management, Economics, Rural Development, Social Work, Development Studies, or a related field.
- 4 to 6 years of experience in qualitative/mixed-methods research, MEL framework design, and primary data collection.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, strategic thinking, and organizational skills with a high focus on accuracy under pressure.
- Excellent interpersonal abilities, fluency in English and a regional language, and willingness to work from New Delhi on a fixed-term contract.
Benefits
- Shape how a respected organisation learns and uses evidence across three programmes.
- Work with external advisors and publish op-eds and articles.
- Join a team of over 120 professionals working on livelihoods, resources and climate.
- Contribute to programmes that have reached more than 20 million people.
