This role sits within Jhpiego's HR function, supporting a geographically dispersed workforce across India.

Role
The Manager/Senior Manager – Human Resources leads the day-to-day delivery of HR operations for a geographically dispersed workforce across India, ensuring HR services are compliant, timely, accurate, and employee-centric. The role is the operational engine of the HR function, running the employee lifecycle, administering statutory compliance, and maintaining HR systems and records, reporting to and working under the direction of the Director – HR & Administration, freeing them to focus on strategic HR transformation.
Responsibilities
- Run end-to-end HR operations across the employee lifecycle, recruitment coordination, onboarding, confirmations, transfers, contract renewals, and separations
- Prepare and issue all employment documentation in line with organisational policy and templates
- Administer full compliance with Indian labour laws and statutory obligations (PF, ESI, gratuity, professional tax, POSH), maintaining audit-ready statutory registers
- Support internal, statutory, and donor audits by preparing HR documentation and responding to queries
- Operate and maintain the HRIS and personnel records as the single source of truth
- Generate periodic HR dashboards and MIS headcount, attrition, leave, hiring status, and compliance trackers
- Administer leave, attendance, and prepare accurate monthly payroll inputs in coordination with Finance
- Administer employee benefits and insurance, including enrolments, claims coordination, and renewals
- Serve as the first point of contact for staff on HR matters, escalating employee-relations and grievance issues to the Director
- Coordinate consistent HR service delivery to State and field offices, supporting HR focal points
- Provide execution support to HR transformation, digitisation, and process-improvement initiatives
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree or postgraduate qualification in HR, Personnel Management, Social Work, or Business Administration preferred
- Manager: 9+ years; Senior Manager: 10-15 years of progressive HR experience, with substantial hands-on ownership of HR operations and compliance
- Demonstrated experience supporting a pan-India or multi-location workforce
- Hands-on experience with HRIS/HRMS platforms and statutory compliance administration
- Experience in NGOs, INGOs, public health, healthcare, development, research, or social-impact organisations preferred
- Working knowledge of Indian labour laws and statutory compliance
- High integrity and discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information
