Ekjut

Ekjut is a nonprofit based in Jharkhand that works with tribal and rural communities to improve the health of women, mothers and children. Its best-known work brings women together in local groups where they talk through shared health problems, learn from each other, and plan their own solutions. This method is called Participatory Learning and Action (PLA). It has helped save the lives of newborn babies and has been recommended by the World Health Organization. Ekjut believes lasting change happens when communities lead it themselves.

Role

As a Project Associate, you will support the Project Lead and the project team in running a community programme built on the PLA approach. You will help create training materials, train project staff, and make sure participant screening and data collection are done well. From time to time you will also lead or watch over sessions, either in person or remotely.

Responsibilities

  • Report to the Project Lead and work closely with the project team.
  • Help develop training materials on PLA and on the project's intervention.

  • Good communication skills in Hindi and English, with priority given to people who speak Ho.
  • Basic computer skills, including MS Office and Excel.
  • Ability to work well in a team and conduct yourself professionally.
  • Ability to connect with communities and community-based organisations is an advantage.

  • Hands-on experience with Participatory Learning and Action, a proven community-led approach to better health.
  • Learn from a team with long experience of working alongside tribal and rural communities.
  • An inclusive workplace that especially welcomes women and people from marginalised communities.
