CEEW
The Council on Energy, Environment and Water is a not-for-profit policy research institution based in New Delhi. It studies how India and the world use energy, manage natural resources and respond to climate change. It shares what it learns with governments and communities to help them make better decisions. The organisation puts research and impact at scale at the centre of its work and builds careers in public policy. This role sits within CEEW's Technology Futures team, which follows new energy transition technologies and studies how countries work together on critical minerals, renewable energy, electric vehicles and hydrogen, moving the focus from handing technology over to building it together.
Role
As a Research Intern, you will support the Technology Futures team's work on clean energy manufacturing, trade policy and international partnerships. Most of your time will go into case studies, legal analysis and literature reviews, where you turn what you read into clear findings the team can use. You will report to a Research Analyst and handle your own research tasks while working closely with the rest of the team.
Responsibilities
- Track policy changes in the global clean energy technology space.
- Review literature on international trade, global governance, industrial growth and clean technology manufacturing, and sum up the key findings.
- Research case studies on clean energy manufacturing and international technology partnerships.
- Analyse legal documents and agreement texts on trade and technology cooperation.
- Support the drafting of research outputs based on these findings.
- Organise research documents and help coordinate checks that confirm findings are accurate.
- Take on other tasks as the team's needs change.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in law, trade, geopolitics, public policy, economics or a related field, either in progress or recently completed.
- 0 to 2 years of relevant experience, which can include internships, research assistantships or academic projects.
- Exposure to legal analysis, trade policy, clean energy technologies or critical minerals is a plus but not required.
- Ability to read academic papers, legal documents and agreement texts and bring the findings together clearly.
- Comfort with Excel, with familiarity with research or trade databases as an added advantage.
- A basic understanding of clean energy technologies and international governance frameworks.
- Strong written and spoken communication, and the ability to work on your own while staying in close touch with the team.
- Able to work from New Delhi and willing to take on a range of tasks in a fast-moving team.
Benefits
- Competitive pay in line with the best standards for similar roles.
- Hands-on experience in public policy research on clean energy, trade and global technology partnerships.
- Learn from experienced researchers in a team that values curiosity, initiative and responsibility.
- A safe and inclusive workplace that is an equal opportunity employer and encourages women to apply.
