Vernacular Outreach Coordinator in Delhi & Mumbai | PETA India
PETA IndiaPETA India
PETA India works to protect animals from cruelty and to change the way people think about the animals we share the country with. The group runs public campaigns, investigations, rescues, and legal and policy work covering animals used for food, clothing, entertainment, experiments and companionship. Much of its power comes from reaching ordinary people in the language they actually speak and read, so a campaign in Delhi or Patna lands as clearly as one in English. Its outreach work spans websites, social media, news releases, films, billboards and street materials. This role sits within PETA India's Vernacular Outreach team, which carries the organisation's campaigns into Hindi and other Indian languages.

Role
This is a translation and coordination role for someone who can turn campaign writing in English into Hindi that is accurate, natural and moving. You will translate across every kind of material PETA India puts out, from a news release to a video script to a leaflet handed out at a demonstration. Alongside the writing, you will keep the Hindi website and Hindi social media pages alive with current campaign news, and you will coordinate freelance translators working in other Indian languages so that campaign content reaches people well beyond Hindi speakers. You will report to the Senior Manager – Vernacular Outreach.
Responsibilities
- Translate written English content into accurate and meaningful Hindi for PETA India's website, social media, news releases, media statements, newsletters, video scripts, billboards, leaflets, letters and demonstration materials.
