Role
As Program Officer under the Aahar Samarth project, you will work directly with government frontline workers, community volunteers, and public health systems to improve maternal and child health outcomes in F North Ward, Mumbai. This is a field-heavy role that requires strong coordination, mentoring, and documentation skills.
Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate immunisation sessions with the Health Department and ICDS, prepare due lists, ensure full coverage, and support AWWs in reaching migrant and missed children
- Conduct regular field visits and supervision to maintain quality of home visits, identify service gaps, and ensure timely referrals and follow-ups for high-risk pregnant women
- Track maternal and child health data including ANC, PNC, immunisation, and growth monitoring using Poshan Tracker and CommCare; submit monthly and quarterly reports on time
- Mentor and build the skills of AWWs, ASHAs, community volunteers, and health post staff through training, joint visits, and on-ground guidance
- Facilitate community group formation, awareness sessions, and UHND participation; address myths and hesitancy around health, nutrition, and family planning services
- Coordinate regularly among AWW, ASHA, ANM, ICDS Supervisors, and UPHC teams for convergence meetings, data reviews, and action planning
- Document field progress, share updates and challenges with supervisors, and submit one case story each month by the 15th
Requirements
- Graduate degree or MSW (Master of Social Work)
- 3 to 5 years of experience in the social sector or public health field
- Fluent in English, Hindi, and Marathi - spoken, written, and reading
- Comfortable with at least 7 hours of fieldwork daily across community and health settings
- Familiar with government health programmes, frontline worker networks, and tools like Poshan Tracker and CommCare
- Good at data entry, report writing, and maintaining accurate field documentation
- Self-driven, accountable, and collaborative with strong interpersonal and communication skills
