The Antara Foundation

The Antara Foundation works to improve the health and well-being of mothers and children in rural India. Through the Akshita Program, the team partners with the government to reduce maternal and infant deaths and tackle malnutrition across eight districts of Madhya Pradesh. Since 2022, the organization has worked closely with the Health Department and the Women and Child Development Department in Barwani district to bring real change to families at the grassroots level. Role

Work with local communities in Barwani to improve health and nutrition for women and children by building trust, raising awareness, and bringing people together for positive change. Areas of operation include Pati, Silawad, Niwali, Sendhwa, Varla, and Pansemal blocks.

Responsibilities

  • Lead community partnerships and act as the local point of contact.
  • Coordinate active participation in vaccination days and community meetings.
  • Attend village level committee meetings and contribute to discussions.
  • Connect health workers with families to improve service delivery.
  • Identify volunteers at the Falia (hamlet) level and support their active involvement.
  • Coordinate with village leaders and key stakeholders.
  • Organize community meetings to raise awareness on health and nutrition.
  • Maintain accurate field records of all activities and outcomes.
  • Complete other tasks assigned by the organization within agreed timelines.

Requirements

  • Age between 18 and 45 years.
  • Post Graduate degree in MSW, MSc Home Science, MSc Nutrition, or MA Sociology.
  • Fluent in Hindi and the local language or dialect.
  • Comfortable using a smartphone and basic computer tools such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Own a two wheeler with a valid driving licence.
  • Understanding of the social and cultural setting of Barwani district.
  • Willing to travel within the work area and to other districts for training.
  • Prior experience with a social organization or company will be preferred.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.
