Role
Pure Earth India is seeking an experienced, hands-on Communications Manager to plan and execute its programmatic communications strategy and lead the development of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) and Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) content. This key role combines strategic ownership with hands-on execution across state programmes, digital and editorial channels, field storytelling, and stakeholder communications, reporting to the Communication Director, India.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of SBCC strategies for Pure Earth India's state-level programmes
- Conduct audience analysis, barrier identification, and message development for communities, traders, frontline workers, and government officials
- Develop communication content for programmatic interventions, including pamphlets, posters, short videos, and field-facing collateral
- Collect and document field stories, case studies, and visual evidence from programme states
- Create engaging social media posts, anchor Pure Earth India's newsletter, and write blogs, articles, and impact stories
- Develop and review donor reports, slide decks, brochures, and other documents
- Own programme communications outputs across owned channels, liaising with programme teams and the global communications team
- Support workshops, events, roundtables, and conferences
- Manage external vendors and partners, covering scoping, timelines, and invoicing
Requirements
- Master's degree required; background in communications, journalism, public health, or social work a plus
- 6-10 years of experience in communications, preferably within the development sector
- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing SBCC campaigns for community-level behaviour change
- Experience developing IEC materials in Hindi and English for diverse audiences
- Experience managing a WordPress website
- Prior exposure to public health or environmental health programmes preferred
- Strong written English and editorial capability, with working proficiency in Canva mandatory
- Familiarity with newsletter/email tools (Mailchimp, HubSpot) and project management tools (Asana, Trello, Notion)
- Willingness to travel periodically to programme states
