PETA India works to protect animals from cruelty and to help people treat them with kindness. It believes animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, use for entertainment, or abuse in any other way. The team runs public campaigns, works with lawmakers and companies to change harmful practices, and helps animals in need across India. It works alongside partner PETA groups in the US and UK. This role sits within PETA India's fundraising team, which raises the money that keeps all of this work going.

Role
As Director of Fundraising, you will lead PETA India's fundraising work and the team behind it. You will build the plans that bring in money from major donors, companies, trusts and foundations, events and gifts left in wills, and make sure every rupee is raised in a fair, ethical and lawful way. You will report to the Director of PETA India and help the organisation reach its big fundraising targets.
Responsibilities
- Lead fundraising across major gifts, events, trusts and foundations, CSR, and legacy giving, setting goals, plans, and the annual budget with team targets
- Identify new large donors and build lasting relationships through events and in-person meetings
- Grow PETA India's base of members and supporters in India and globally
- Guide the use of new technology and donor software to improve fundraising and donor communication
- Act as first point of contact for partners, and coordinate with PETA's US and UK fundraising teams
- Track tax law changes with the Legal Department and a tax advisor
- Lead and mentor the fundraising team to drive performance, accountability, and growth
Requirements
- 10-12 years of fundraising experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role
- Proven record across major donors, high-net-worth individuals, and institutional funders
- Degree or training in communication, marketing, sales, or a related field
- Good knowledge of animal rights issues, a vegan lifestyle, and strong support for PETA's philosophy and goals
- Creative, flexible, and able to work independently while managing multiple projects with attention to detail
- Willingness to be based in Mumbai or Delhi
