It is a 2020 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate. In India, WFP's Country Strategic Plan (2023-2027) supports the government's efforts on food security and nutrition, with Strategic Outcome 4 focused on strengthening climate resilient food systems and adaptive capacities.

Role

The Programme Associate will provide specialized technical and administrative support to WFP India's climate change and resilient food systems unit, coordinating business support services and helping ensure effective delivery of programme activities on the ground. This is a one-year Service Contract, open only to Indian nationals, with possible renewal.

Responsibilities

  • Support programme operations to ensure activities meet targets in line with WFP's policies, and track deliverables against milestones
  • Prepare reports and data analysis on technical assistance needs, resource use, and programme status, highlighting trends and issues
  • Ensure accurate, timely recording of programme data and assist in preparing briefing documents and updates
  • Liaise with internal teams to support project implementation and monitoring, and help organize review meetings, technical consultations, and workshops
  • Collaborate with vendors and state offices on ongoing activities
  • Review the work of WFP-contracted field partners and provide guidance in consultation with the Head of Unit
  • Conduct basic data analysis and research, and prepare materials for meetings including presentations, documents, and reports
  • Coordinate with local partners, agencies, NGOs, and government institutions, maintaining a reliable database for correspondence
  • Respond to operational business needs, liaising with HR and Finance for smooth process implementation
  • Maintain records and databases of unit procurements and fund disbursal in line with regulations and audit requirements
  • Assist with budget planning, monitoring, and reconciliation
  • Provide business support services to staff and recommend improvements to procedures
  • Act as Leave Monitor for the unit, ensuring timely record compilation to HR
  • Perform delegated procurement functions, including creating Purchase Requisitions and posting service entries in SAP
  • Perform other duties as required

Requirements

  • Secondary education required; a university degree in Business, Commerce, Public Administration, Communications, Economics, Agriculture, Statistics, Environmental Sciences, or Information Technology/Computer Science is desirable
  • 6 years of progressively responsible programme or administrative support experience, including at least 2 years with UN, international-multilateral, or multinational organizations
  • Experience working with technical teams such as Resilience, Agriculture, Climate Adaptation, or Monitoring and Evaluation
  • Experience contributing to programme implementation and observing or assisting with policy discussions
  • Experience preparing briefs, memos, updates, and preliminary reports
  • Ability to analyse and interpret financial data and monitor budgets
  • Ability to coordinate the work of others and oneself
  • Proficiency in MS Office and presentation software
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Experience with SAP is an added advantage
  • Excellent written and communication skills in English, with working knowledge of Hindi
  • Open to Indian nationals only
