Role

A purpose-driven position focused on providing socio-emotional guidance and career mentoring to adolescents under Project Strive to help them reach their full potential.

Responsibilities

  • Lead socio-emotional counselling and career guidance sessions for small groups of fellows.
  • Facilitate life skills workshops covering communication, teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving.
  • Coordinate regular check-ins with families through home visits, calls, and meetings.
  • Manage basic employability training, including resume building and interview preparation.
  • Track and document student progress regarding attendance, academics, and behavior.
  • Assess the quality of educational institutions and assist fellows with admissions to better schools.
  • Organize talent competitions and extra-curricular activities to boost student confidence.
  • Maintain monthly reports and case notes in alignment with project objectives.

Requirements

  • Graduate or Postgraduate degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience working with adolescents or young adults in a development setting.
  • Proficiency in English and Tamil (working knowledge of Hindi is a plus).
  • Strong computer skills for documentation and generating progress reports.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with high levels of empathy and patience.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with young people and their families.
  • Deep commitment to youth development, education equity, and ethical child protection practices.
  • Duration: 3 months likely to continue for 1 year
