UNDP India

UNDP has worked in India since 1951 across nearly every area of human development. Alongside the Government of India and development partners, UNDP works to end poverty, reduce inequalities, strengthen local governance, protect the environment, and accelerate progress on the Sustainable Development Goals. With a presence in every state and union territory, the organisation reaches the most vulnerable and marginalized communities across the country. UNDP India's Country Programme (2023–2027) focuses on three pillars: accountable institutions for SDG progress, inclusive economic opportunities and social protection, and climate-smart and resilient development.

Role

You will support the planning and delivery of projects that help rural women and small businesses earn a better income. Your focus will be on connecting people to markets, using clean energy for work, and making sure livelihoods are sustainable and fair.

Responsibilities

  • Build work plans, track activities across states, coordinate with partners and government teams, and keep everyone updated through clear notes, action lists, and progress summaries.
  • Build and maintain working relationships with government departments, women's groups, farmer collectives, banks, businesses, and civil society — and make sure follow-up actions from meetings get done.
  • Help women's groups access solar-powered tools to improve productivity, connect them with banks and financial institutions, and support financial literacy sessions with simple, easy-to-read materials.
  • Monitor programme progress and women's participation data, write monthly and quarterly updates for UNDP and the Ministry of Rural Development, and document what is working so the programme keeps improving.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Rural Development, Economics, or Public Policy or related feild. Bachelor's degree holders need at least 2 years of relevant work experience in development, government, or research.
  • Good at managing multiple tasks, coordinating with diverse people and organisations, writing clear reports, and working with data to track on-ground progress.
  • Understands how to make programmes more fair and useful for women and marginalised communities.
  • Fluent in English and Hindi.
  • Experience with livelihoods, farming value chains, SHGs, producer groups, or FPOs especially under DAY-NRLM or SRLM.
  • Some exposure to working with banks, private sector partners, clean energy tools, or women's economic empowerment programmes.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation under UNDP National Personnel Service Agreement (NPSA-8).
  • Work directly with rural women, farmer collectives, and government missions on programmes that create real economic change.
  • Build your career in inclusive development with one of the world's most respected international organisations.
