Language and Learning Foundation (LLF) is a New Delhi-based non-profit that works to improve learning outcomes for children across India. Over 8 years, LLF has strengthened foundational literacy and language skills for 8,50,000+ children and supported 2,50,000+ teachers across 8 states through teacher training, knowledge building, and close partnership with state governments.
Role
The Senior Manager - Research and Evaluation is a key leader within our RMEL team. You will design and manage research projects that show how our programs are working and how we can make them better. Your goal is to turn data into useful insights that help improve education for children in low-resource settings.
Responsibilities
- Design and lead rigorous qualitative and quantitative research studies including primary, secondary, longitudinal, and mixed-method approaches
- Develop research frameworks, methodologies, tools, and protocols aligned with state, national, and global education standards
- Strengthen existing evaluation systems to track program performance, outcomes, and impact against external benchmarks
- Oversee use of Theory of Change, log frames, and indicator matrices across all research and evaluation activities
- Craft a 3-year research and evaluation strategy aligned with LLF's five-year organisational strategy
- Supervise data collection, quality assurance, and analysis using statistical tools such as STATA, R, SPSS, NVivo, and Atlas.ti
- Translate data and evidence into clear recommendations for program improvement and stakeholder communication
- Prepare high-quality reports, policy briefs, case studies, white papers, and presentations for internal and external audiences
- Engage with government partners, funders, academic institutions, and education networks to co-design research and share findings
- Build capacity of program and field teams on mixed-method research tools and responsible data practices
- Mentor research volunteers and interns as needed
- Facilitate cross-departmental learning spaces and document good practices across the organisation
- Contribute research-backed inputs to LLF's strategic planning and fundraising efforts
Requirements
- Master's or PhD in Education, Development Studies, Public Policy, Statistics, Economics, or a related field
- 10+ years of progressive experience in research and evaluation, with a focus on public education systems
- Strong knowledge of experimental and quasi-experimental designs, mixed-methods research, and participatory approaches
- Proven ability to design and manage large-scale education research including longitudinal studies
- Hands-on experience with quantitative and qualitative data analysis tools including STATA, R, SPSS, NVivo, or Atlas.ti
- Demonstrated experience working with government systems, funders, and NGOs in the education sector
- Familiarity with National Education Policy 2020 and global education indicators such as SDG 4
- Strong problem-solving, strategic thinking, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently while maintaining clear communication and collaboration across teams
- Willingness to travel to program locations approximately 20 to 30 percent of the time
