The Convergence Foundation (TCF)

The Convergence Foundation is an Indian philanthropic foundation set up by Ashish and Manisha Dhawan in April 2021. It builds on their legacy of supporting strong institutions like Ashoka University and the Central Square Foundation. TCF works to improve the lives of all Indians through faster economic growth and inclusive development. It does this by building pioneering institutions, supporting government efforts, and sharing knowledge with philanthropists and policymakers. TCF's portfolio of 20+ organisations has already shaped national outcomes, from foundational learning under the NIPUN Bharat Mission to economic reform work supporting the Viksit Bharat vision.

Role

Lead TCF's new Technology and AI function. Work as a technology strategist and co-builder with leaders across TCF and its 20+ portfolio organisations to deploy AI solutions that create system and population-scale outcomes for India.

Responsibilities

Define TCF's technology and AI strategy, including responsible AI use, human in the loop principles, and AI policy for TCF and portfolio organisations.
Identify breakthrough AI ideas that enable fundamentally new approaches across program areas, going beyond simple efficiency gains.
Co-design technology strategy and priority use cases with portfolio leaders and CXOs.
Build and deploy solutions on-ground in close partnership with portfolio organisations and technology partners.
Partner with government counterparts to embed technology into systemic reform and institutional capacity building.
Own data protection, cybersecurity, and technology architecture decisions for TCF and guide portfolio organisations on their infrastructure needs.
Build and steward multi-year partnerships with leading AI providers like Google, OpenAI, and Anthropic.
Mobilise funding from partners, government, and philanthropy to support the technology agenda.
Represent TCF at technology and AI forums and contribute to building digital public goods.
Build a lean in-house team of 3 to 4 members and drive AI fluency across all TCF functions.

Requirements

Bachelor's or higher degree in technology, engineering, computer science, or a related field.
15+ years of experience in technology leadership, senior engineering, or product management.
Proven track record of building and deploying technology solutions in complex, resource constrained settings.
Strong knowledge of AI, data systems, cybersecurity, and modern technology architecture.
Experience identifying, onboarding, and managing technology partners and vendors.
Entrepreneurial approach to resourcing using academic partnerships, short-term hires, and creative team models.
Strong communication skills in English, with the ability to engage CXOs, government officials, and technology leaders.
Collaborative mindset and comfort working across philanthropy, government, and the private sector.
Systems thinker who can move easily between strategy and hands-on execution.
